UK set to unite rules for Xmas

-

THE four nations of the UK could adopt the same lockdown rules for Christmas to allow relatives to visit each other.

Officials from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland discussed ‘co-ordinating public messaging’ at a meeting of the emergency Cobra committee yesterday. The nations have different rules to fight Covid, with Northern Ireland’s lockdown due to end next Friday and the Welsh ‘firebreak’ finishing on Monday.

A Cabinet Office spokesman said ministers had ‘reaffirmed the need to respect and support each other’s public health measures’ but will ‘work together on a joint approach to the Christmas period’.
