Singing may help ease Covid breathing problem

-

A NEW trial is investigating whether singing lullabies can reduce breathlessness associated with Covid-19.

The trial, run by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the English National Opera, involves 4 0 patients who have suffered from Covid.

Breathlessness, a common long-term symptom of the infection, can trigger anxiety, leading to shallow breaths.

Participants will be taught breathing techniques used by opera singers, helping them to sing lullabies. Researchers hope the online sessions will ease anxiety and enable participants to breathe more easily. Singing is already used to treat other respiratory issues.
