FA CUP TO GO AHEAD DESPITE LOCKDOWN

THE FA Cup first round will go ahead this week after 10 lower league clubs were granted elite status to play in lockdown. The Government’s decision to impose tighter Covid restrictions had jeopardised the competition, with only the Premier League, EFL and National League allowed to continue playing. However, the FA yesterday confirmed that exemptions had been granted following talks with the Government.
