JAMIE THEAKSTON’S series i arrives at the evergreen topic of the pyramids (pictured), and the pseudoscie­nce of ‘pyramidolo­gy’. The theme of the episode seems to be that no one knows anything about their origins for sure — but somehow, the mystery still makes for engaging TV.

A Bloody Legacy, 8.15pm, PBS America

AFTER the First World War, the Treaty of Versailles promised to create a fairer, better world for as many nations as possible. In fact, it did the opposite. This series explores the devastatin­g legacy of the treaty in eastern Europe and the Middle East, one that is still being felt today.

The Disordered Eye, 9pm, BBC4

IN THIS eye-opening new film, disabled artist and film-maker Richard Butchins challenges the importance of good vision in making great art. He examines the work of Rembrandt, Cezanne, Monet and Munch to uncover surprising revelation­s about the effect of impaired vision on many painters.

Harlan Coben’s Safe, 9pm, 5Star

IF YOU have ever spent an enjoyable afternoon poking around charity shops or antiques stores, then Drew Pritchard’s series should be a vicarious delight. In tonight’s new episode, Drew is in a salvage yard in Colchester, Essex, that is full of intriguing items.

Instinct, 9pm, Pick

ALAN CUMMING returns as CIA officer turned professor turned sleuth Dylan — only, at the start of the new-to-Freeview second season, he’s suspended from working with the NYPD because of his maverick ways. Soon, though, he’s helping with the case of a tycoon turned into a ‘corpsicle’ by her own cryo chamber.

The Emily Atack Show, 10pm, ITV2

EMILY ATACK (pictured) has no shortage of energy and conviction, and the I’m A Celebrity runner-up puts it to good use in this new series, in which she delivers stand-up and sketch comedy to a wild crowd. Every episode is themed, starting with the perils of dating, and Atack throws in some amusing impression­s along the way for good measure, too.

Ash Is Purest White, 10.15pm, Sky Premiere

GRACEFUL Chinese crime drama told from the point of view of the moll, a woman (Tao Zhao) whose misplaced devotion to her gangster boyfriend lands her in jail. It follows her in three time periods, from 2001 to 2017, as she survives and transforms.
