Yes, I get lonely... but I will never remarry, vows Bowie’s widow

IMAN insists she will never remarry despite her loneliness in the five years since the death of husband David Bowie.

The supermodel, 65, says the musician was her ‘true love’ whom she wishes she’d had more years with. She and Bowie, who died of liver cancer aged 69 in January 2016, married in 1992. Their daughter, Alexandria, is 20.

‘David is in our hearts and minds on a daily basis, for all of us. You know, this was my true love,’ Iman tells Harper’s Bazaar. ‘My daughter once asked me if I would ever marry again and I said, “Never”.’

Iman is pictured in a series of striking outfits for the magazine, including one with a bright red veil and another that resembles a cream-topped Christmas pud.

She feels Bowie is still ‘hiding in plain sight’ thanks to the continued relevance of his music, and claims she received a sign from him on the day of his death when a bluebird flew by her. The bird is mentioned in one of his final songs, Lazarus.

Despite Bowie’s wild times in the 1970s, Iman said theirs was ‘an everyday marriage’.

The February issue of Harper’s Bazaar is on sale from tomorrow.

WIDOWED writer Hunter Davies, who turns 85 on Thursday, says he made several offers of romance to singleton ladies, including old chums Jilly Cooper and Joan Bakewell, who both said: ‘No thanks, darling.’ Happily, he had more luck with current partner Claire Thornton, who arranged his 1993 interview with Jack Nicholson. Of meeting Claire again in 2017, he tells The Oldie he’d forgotten how pretty she was. ‘She’s 72 but everyone thinks she can’t be a day over 59,’ he says with pride.
