Burglar sits on phone… and calls the police

A PAIR of bungling burglars were caught during a breakin after one of them sat on his phone and accidentally dialled 999.

‘I think we just arrested the world’s unluckiest burglars,’ said Chief Inspector John Owen of Staffordshire Police yesterday. Officers received a ‘suspicious call’ on Wednesday night, Mr Owen said, which ‘detailed all of their antics up to the point of hearing our patrols arrive’.

Staffordshire Police confirmed two men, aged 49 and 42, arrested in the Middleport area of Stoke-on-Trent, were in custody.
