WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND
ICE-CREAM SHADES
SPRING might not officially start until March 20, but in the world of fashion, it is well and truly here. Coats are still the order of the day, but it’s time to lighten up. Icecream shades are going to be big news this season, and the soft mint tone of the one I’m wearing from & Other Stories is the answer for washed-out, tired skin like mine.
Designer Loewe has a luxe version (with a price tag to match) that looks and feels good enough to eat — reminding me of those posh, pistachio macaron biscuits — but this one’s a steal at £175.
FORGET PRACTICAL
‘What about the mud?’, my sister cries as I video-call her on a walk. She’s right, the colour isn’t practical, but it’s so pretty I’ll enjoy it as a stylish mood-booster.
If you want to go one impractical step further, add a pair of white knee- high boots to make a statement. and while you don’t need to wait for an event to buy a pastel coat, just think how ideal it would be for a wedding in the post-lockdown months to come.
WEAR WITH...
HUGO BOSS showed a glossy patent mint-green trench coat version on its Spring/ Summer catwalk, teaming it with neutral trousers. It’s a wise idea to let the coat do all the talking, and keep what’s underneath simple, but tonally aligned.
PLEASURE PRINCIPLE
SOMETIMES the ‘ why not’ purchases are the most satisfying, bought for pleasure and worn with joy. this coat certainly falls into that category. Size up in Zara’s version (below) for a more casual oversized look, or Mango’s double breasted wool coat will still keep you cosy. Longer styles are both on trend and create a sense of drama as you sweep by.
