REMAKES and reboots don’t always work, especially when the original was so good, but this update of Paul Verhoeven’s exhilarati­ng (and violent) 1987 sci-fi crime thriller is a good effort. Joel Kinnaman is the shot-down cop getting a heavily upgraded new body — in stylish matte black.

THE comedians are asked to reinvent themselves as wrestlers this week, and the results are very funny indeed. Sally Phillips really gets into it (‘I want to be covered in silver and I want to be magic’), while Joel Dommett casts himself as a manager. Later, the comics stage Sally’s funeral.
