Pupils in ‘racist’ uniforms walkout
PUPILS stormed out of a school yesterday in protest over ‘racist’ uniform rules which they say targeted children with ‘Afros and hijabs’.
Scores of teenagers demonstrated with placards outside Pimlico Academy, in central London, claiming the rules were discriminatory against black, Muslim and transgender pupils. The rules say that hairstyles must be ‘conservative and understated’ and that pupils wearing hijabs must cover all their hair.
The protesters are also supported by some of their teachers who have threatened industrial action.
