WE CAN EVEN WATCH FROM OUR HOT TUB!

Laura Hooper, 36, owns a homeware business and lives in Chard, Somerset, with her husband Darren, 40, who owns a building firm, and daughters Kirsty, 18, Yasmin, 15, and Lexie, 11. She says: ARMED with popcorn for the children, and gin and tonics for Darren and me, Saturday nights during the first lockdown were spent watching films in our backyard cinema.

It’s the most gorgeous space, set out underneath a pagoda that, come spring and early summer, is covered with wisteria. It only took a couple of weeks for Darren to build the lot, including the timber banquette-style seating.

There’s a brick firepit in the middle, and a light grey shed which the £100 screen hangs from. With a £70 projector and speakers attached to the pagoda, hey presto, our backyard cinema comes to life! We can even watch films from the nearby hot tub.

However, I don’t recommend watching horror movies outside — every little noise will make you jump!
