Heartfelt thanks

-

ALONG with my husband and daughter, I work for the NHS.

We are grateful for all of the support we get from the community. Whether it’s people clapping on their doorsteps, discounts in shops or locals bringing in biscuits and chocolates to the hospital, it is all greatly appreciated. Personal thanks can have the biggest impact, as my husband Nick discovered.

He was walking home in uniform after his shift as a porter at Stroud hospital.

A young lad crossed the road and, approaching Nick, said: ‘Please can I say thank you for all that you and your colleagues do for us.’

Teenagers get such bad press but that polite, thoughtful youngster is a credit to his parents and school. TINA VOWLES, Stroud, Glos.
