Boots takes battering
SALeS dropped by nearly a fifth at Boots as coronavirus weighed on retailers.
Revenue at the pharmacy chain has plummeted nearly 18pc in the UK, the company’s parent Walgreens Boots Alliance said yesterday.
The fall was caused by the continued impacts of Covid19, which is pushing down the number of customers using high Street stores.
Sales fell 17.8pc in the three months to the end of February, even as its website saw a 105pc rise compared with the same period last year.
Walgreens boss Rosalind Brewer, who took over on March 15, said: ‘Overall, we have achieved a good financial quarter with results well ahead of expectations, despite significant impacts from Covid-19,’
