He’ll reprise detective role in record Netflix deal for two sequels

PLAYING James Bond is not forever. But it seems Daniel Craig still has the golden touch – as his next venture will be a multi-million-dollar Netflix production.

The actor, whose fifth and final 00 film is set for release later this year, has been focusing on life after the secret agent.

Now, Netflix has reportedly agreed a deal for two sequels to his 2019 whodunnit Knives Out. It did not say how much it had paid for the films, but the deal is reported to be worth more than £290million.

That would make it one of the most expensive ever for a streaming giant. Knives Out was written and directed by

Rian Johnson and starred Craig, 53, as the mysterious and debonair private detective Benoit Blanc.

He is called to investigat­e the death of a wealthy novelist and suspicion falls on his money-grabbing family.

The cast also featured Jamie Lee Curtis, the late Christophe­r Plummer and Ana de Armas – who plays Bond girl Paloma alongside Craig in the upcoming 00 film No Time to Die.

Knives Out was a critical and commercial success, earning more than £225million at the box office despite having a budget of only £29million.

No Time To Die is set for release in October following multiple delays caused by coronaviru­s. The world’s most popular streaming service, Netflix has more than 200million subscriber­s.
