WHAT HAS HE GOT?

IT IS an illustration of the faith shown by the Luton staff in this young player that he was not replaced by a more experienced forward when they were desperately seeking a goal in a recent game I saw. Signed from Walsall, this 6ft 4in striker has much to learn. But he will improve quickly with more 90 minutes on the field. He makes himself a strong target when he faces the play to receive. diagonal hoping for an accurate cross. He is long-legged and can look a little uncoordinated but he gets his shots away. His manager would be pleased with his determination, energy and closing down. He forces mistakes by doing this and helps his team to win the ball back early. When I saw him he didn’t score but he made chances for team-mates.

WHAT DOES HE NEED?

HE IS technically adept at looking after the ball but this can improve with more mobility work. Right-footed, he shows good skills which should continue to get better. He will need to work on his acceleration but, more importantly, he should work on improving his strengths. In this game his centre back marker could not relax. At Luton he has Mick Harford — an outstanding centre forward in his time — to help him and provided he retains an appetite for the game and plays regularly, he will only improve.
