Chancellor whom David Cameron texted as he tried to get Greensill Capital access to huge Covid support loans. He wrote back to the former PM that he had ‘pushed the team’ to find a solution.
JESSE NORMAN
Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and formerly a policy adviser to David Cameron. He was also lobbied by the ex-PM last year on behalf of Greensill. Is married to Kate Bingham, former head of vaccine taskforce.
JOHN GLEN
Economic Secretary to the Treasury who sat on the Downing Street Policy Board when David Cameron was PM. He was also contacted by phone by Mr Cameron on behalf of Greensill Capital.
MATT HANCOCK
Health Secretary and former Cabinet Office minister. Went for a drink with Cameron and Greensill which was not reported in official hospitality lists, but said he told officials about it.
DAVID CAMERON
Prime Minister from 2010 until he lost the EU referendum in 2016. He has since written his memoirs and worked on Alzheimer’s research but last year also quietly lobbied ministers on behalf of Greensill Capital, where he had extensive share options.
CRAIG OLIVER
A former BBC executive who was David Cameron’s Director of Communications in Downing Street from 2011 until 2016. He is now a ‘Principal’ at lobbying firm Teneo, whose clients included Greensill Capital.
LEX GREENSILL
Australian farmer’s son who became a banker then set up early payment firm Greensill Capital. Became an adviser to the Cameron government, getting his own Downing Street business cards, then hired the former PM in 2018.
JEREMY HEYWOOD
Cabinet Secretary from 2012 until 2018, and previously a Principal Private Secretary to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Was responsible for bringing Lex Greensill into Downing Street, having met him when they worked at Morgan Stanley. Died in 2018.
BILL CROTHERS
Head of Government procurement under David Cameron, in 2015 he was allowed to carry on this job while also advising the Greensill board. Later became a director with shares worth £5.7m at one point.
JOHNMANZONI
Enjoyed a long career with oil giant BP before becoming Chief Executive of the Civil Service in October 2014. He briefly continued with his directorship of brewing group SABMiller while also working in Whitehall.
