What I’d give for a little charity spree

-

We’re all of us lacking and missing Those things which gave shape to our days. The pubs and the clubs and the discos, Cinemas, concerts and plays. Now me, I’m not fussed about discos, I don’t care for vino or hops, But oh, how I’ve wished I could go for A mooch round the charity shops. It’s all in the thrill of the chase, you see, The knowing not what I might find. It puts a spring into my step And concentrates my mind. All sorts of garments on hangers,

Shelves laden down and piled high, I know there will always be something I cannot, just cannot, pass by.

There’s cutlery, china, utensils, Vases and ornaments, too. Cushions and towels and bedding With one thing in common . . . not new. Some folk go running or jogging, Others do puzzles or tricks, But I am a pre-loved junkie And for months I’ve been needing a fix. I’ve had all the withdrawal symptoms, My toes have all started to curl. This calls for a drastic solution — I’ll have to give eBay a whirl!
