Dreading my holiday
LIKE many people, I find myself in an unenviable situation. I booked to go to Spain last June. Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, my holiday was rearranged for this summer.
With the departure date approaching, I find myself with the option of cancelling and losing my money or the uncertainty of travelling.
I would have to pay a lot for Covid tests before departing, feel reluctant to mix with strangers in the confined areas of an airport and plane and there is the uncertainty of being quarantined on my return and the expense this would entail.
Looking forward to a holiday was always a big part of the experience, but now it’s filling me with dread. It isn’t what I signed up for and has become a liability I could do without.
D. M. DEAMER, York. I’M CERTAINLY not a selfentitled Southerner (Letters) booking a staycation and holiday abroad. I’m not able to go for a walk on the nearby beach because of daytrippers. I’ll forgo a holiday abroad this year, wait until 2022 and enjoy being out of season.
