- By MATT BARLOW

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAy boss Darren Moore is suffering from pneumonia and blood clots on his lungs after contracting Covid-19.

Moore missed three games following a positive test result and an enforced period of isolation before returning to the training ground on Monday.

He was on the touchline as the Owls were beaten 2-0 by Swansea at Hillsborough on Tuesday but felt unwell after the match.

‘I have developed pneumonia as a result of Covid-19, with blood clots on the lungs and extreme discomfort,’ said 46-year- old Moore in a statement last night. ‘I am gutted to be away but I understand the situation and the course of action I must take.’

Wednesday are at home against Bristol City tomorrow and Moore’s assistant Jamie Smith is expected to take charge of the team in his absence. Moore joined the club from Doncaster last month but may not be back before the end of the season.

‘Everyone at the club sends their very best wishes to the gaffer for a speedy and full recovery,’ said a Sheffield Wednesday spokesman.
