In court, the driver accused of murder in M&S car park

A MAN of 26 has appeared in court charged with the murder of a married father- of-two after allegedly running him over with his BMW in a Marks & Spencer car park.

Matthew Tester, 49, in Walton- onThames, Surrey, last Thursday following an argument behind the store.

Mir, of Weybridge, is also charged with the attempted murder of an unnamed man who was also allegedly run over that afternoon. This man, who is in his 40s, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Dressed in a grey tracksuit when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court yesterday, Mir did not enter a plea and details of the case were not disclosed to the court.

Witnesses who saw a white BMW 1 Series car leaving the M&S car park after the incident are being urged to come forward.

The vehicle was found unoccupied about four miles away from the crime scene in Addlestone.

The family of Mr Tester, known to friends as Tik, paid tribute to him as ‘a muchloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to so many’. They added: ‘ This tragedy has absolutely rocked the family.’

‘Dad taught me how to live’

age daughters and his wife, Kim. The family shared a £450,000 semi-detached home about a ten-minute walk from the M&S store.

One of his daughters said: ‘ Dad taught me how to live. Our favourite thing was just to laugh, because even in our darkest time we did it together.’

Mr Tester’s brother said: ‘Those who knew him will talk of his humour, generosity, willingnes­s to help and his cheeky grin.’

He said that the ‘ hurt and sadness’ his family have felt ‘simply cannot be fully quantified’, adding ‘ no one should ever experience’ this.

‘The consequenc­es and ripples of Tik’s death will have a lasting effect on so many lives.’

Mir was ordered to return to Guildford Crown Court on July 27 and he was remanded in custody.
