- By Eleanor Sharples TV and Radio Reporter

AFTer a hugely successful year around the globe, it’s little surprise The Crown secured multiple Bafta television award nominations yesterday.

But there was one noticeable omission as the show’s newest star, emma Corrin, failed to secure a nod in the leading actress category.

But among The Crown’s ten nominations there was a nod for helena Bonham Carter, who plays Princess Margaret, in the supporting actress category, as well as Tobias Menzies who played the Duke of edinburgh and Josh O’Connor, who portrayed Charles.

The show was also nominated for best drama series alongside three sky Atlantic shows – Gangs Of London, I hate suzie and save Me Too.

Meanwhile Jodie Comer, 28, is in the running for leading actress for the third year running for her assassin role in Killing eve. But it was sir steve McQueen’s small Axe series – about the West Indian community in London from the 1960s to 1980s – that led the nominations with 15 nods.

There was recognition for John Boyega, shaun Parkes and Letitia Wright in the leading actor and actress categories, while sir steve is nominated for best director. elsewhere
