THE repeated sitcom THE BREAK (RADIO 4 EXTRA, 7AM, 5PM),
set in the eccentric town of Flamford, is well worth a revisit. Tom Palmer plays a burnt-out City whizz kid who is under the delusion that he might live a simpler, happy life by the sea with his Uncle Jeff (Philip Jackson). Jeff, however, is well dodgy — involved in a number of dubious dealings, he has an ‘arrangement’ with pest control officer Corinne (Alison Steadman). Nicely done deadpan humour.
SMALL fortunes have changed hands for dogs in lockdown, and dog-napping is on the up. Stolen animals are sold on, or a ransom is demanded. In the first of a new series of

comedian Alfie Moore (pictured) — drawing on his experiences as a policeman — looks at this crime, and considers the
implications of offering a ‘no questions asked’ reward for the return of a dog. YOU need terrific lungs and strong arms to play the bagpipes. Given the power the instrument has, you also need a remote spot in which to practise. Ancient carvings suggest that bagpipes, in some form, have been around for thousands of years, across Europe, Asia and North Africa. For this week’s edition of
