Paying for power

-

STeVe BOGGAN’S piece about Netflix (Mail) may have been read by Boris. Whether it registered is debatable; he has a lot on his plate, especially trying to find funding to cope with the reckless spending by the mother of his latest illegitimate offspring.

But he has also committed Britain to reducing its carbon usage and this will affect us all, especially the elderly, who will see their energy bills rise dramatically, along with having to pay to install heat pumps. Will council tax be raised to enable local authorities to pay for the ‘improvements’ a heat pump will bring?

Steve also points out that ‘data centres’ use an enormous amount of power. At the moment the cost of this power is not passed on to the consumer proportionately.

We can upload and download as much as we like. I seem to recall that when the internet was introduced,

one paid more when one’s downloading exceeded a threshold. Is it not likely that this will happen again? The rich can afford it, and Honourable Members are able to offset such costs to ‘expenses’. The poor cannot.
