Blues target Lukaku given £105m price tag

- By MATT BARLOW

CheLSeA will have to smash their transfer record and pay at least £105million if they want to lure Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge. Inter Milan are poised to win their first Serie A title since 2010 at a time when the club’s Chinese owners Suning are reported to be in serious financial peril. Inter may be forced to sell some of their star players but are desperate not to part with Lukaku (right), who has been prolific in the two years since his move from Manchester United. The Belgium striker, 27, has three years to run on a contract worth in the region of £14m a year. Chelsea are in the market for a proven centre forward to lead their attack next season. They have expressed interest in erling haaland of Borussia Dortmund but face competition from a host of top european clubs for the 20-year-old. Chelsea would love to bring in harry Kane from Tottenham but this appears improbable given the complications of signing from a fierce rival. Lukaku is an attractive option because he is familiar with the Premier League and Chelsea know the player. he joined them as a teenager for £18m from Anderlecht in 2011. They let him go to everton three years later. Chelsea thought they had a struck deal to re-sign Lukaku for £75m when he left Goodison Park in 2017, only to lose out as he moved instead to Old Trafford. Inter president Steven Zhang has flown into Milan this week — for the first time in six months — to address the futures of Lukaku and manager Antonio Conte.
