YOU could easily make a longer sitcom out of this short series, in which Welsh girl Chloe (Alea Beechey, pictured) wrangles her sweet but naughty pet, Topsy the triceratops. A new series starts today, and just one of the great things about it is that none of the characters thinks it’s at all odd to have a dinosaur for a pet.

CLASSICAL CONCERT Handel: La Resurrezione, 7pm, Sky Arts
A NEW production of Handel’s rarely performed oratorio, which charts the events from Good Friday to Easter Sunday. The impressive cast includes the soloists Danielle de Niese, Lucy Crowe and Hugo Hymas, who are backed by the English Concert Orchestra.
HISTORICAL FIGURES Mark Kermode’s Secrets Of Cinema, 9pm, BBC4
BRITAIN’S rich history is one of our greatest resources when it comes to cinema, and Kermode provides an insightful chronological guide to it here. Henry VIII, William Wallace, Robin Hood and Queens Victoria and Anne are just some of the names on the roll call.

STORIES from the Spanish Armada and World War I make up part two of this interesting new series. We head to the Irish coast to learn part of why the Spanish fleet failed in its attack on Elizabeth I, and to the Dardanelles in Turkey for an Allied tragedy.

THE great thing about Mare (Kate Winslet) is that she doesn’t hang about. When she hears a rumour that her ex may have slept with the victim, she charges right round and asks him. In front of his family. There’s a lot of depth to go along with that pace, too, in a drama that is hitting a high point.
SCI-FI SERIES Colony, Netflix
A NEW, third season of this U.S. drama, set in a future LA that is under strict military control after the arrival of alien invaders. At the centre of it all is family man Will (Lost’s Josh Holloway), who develops links to the Resistance.

BY-THE-NUMBERS police drama — based on a true story — that’s lifted by its two charismatic stars, Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker.

STACEY (pictured) has her smiley but sceptical face on as she arrives to stay with a couple who divide the roles of husband and wife very traditionally. Lillian has two master’s degrees and gave up a career for her ‘trad wife’ life, which is the opposite of how Stacey lives. Some lively debates ensue.
