n MANCHESTER CITY defender Joao Cancelo has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2020 opener against Hungary tomorrow. Cancelo is isolating and Portugal coach Fernando Santos has replaced the 27-year-old with Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot for the holders’ game in Budapest. Dalot spent last season on loan at AC Milan and was part of the Portugal side beaten in the European Championship Under 21 final by Germany last week. A statement from the Portuguese FA said: ‘The Hungarian health authorities were immediately informed and the player — who is fine — was placed in isolation. In accordance with the Covid-19 protocol defined by UEFA, all players and members of the entourage were subjected to RT-PCR tests. ‘The results, with the exception of Joao Cancelo, were negative.’ DAVID KENT

TIMOTHY CASTAGNE will have surgery in Antwerp tomorrow on the fractured left eye socket that has put the Belgium defender out of Euro 2020. Castagne flew back to Brussels with the rest of the squad yesterday following Saturday’s 3-0 win over Russia. The Leicester player was taken off in the 27th minute after a sickening clash of heads with Daler Kuzyaev, and X-rays confirmed that he had suffered a double fracture. Castagne believes he could be available if Belgium reach the final, but manager Roberto Martinez discounted that possibility yesterday. Kevin De Bruyne returns to training today and could face Denmark on Thursday after recovering from the broken nose and eye socket he suffered in the Champions League final. CHRIS WHEELER
