HE’S the Chelsea designer with an eye for success, but Tom Davies, whose spectacles are worn by Ed Sheeran, Heston Blumenthal and Angelina Jolie, has been left devastated after a £500,000 raid on his Sloane Square boutique.

The stolen items include all the pieces he designed for Hollywood film Cruella, such as these worn by Dame Emma Thompson, pictured.

‘ This is my second ever break-in at Sloane Square,’ Davies says of the raid, which took place last week. ‘Somebody threw a large lump of concrete through the window and stole all the frames from Cruella. ‘I’m doing this thing with London Fashion Week — we’re showing the frames we designed for the film — about 120 pairs — and I put the key pieces that were worn by Emma Stone and Dame Emma in the window. ‘ I’ve got this absolutely heartwrenching video of a large concrete block flying through the window, two masked robbers bundling through, scooping up glasses and running off.’ Well- heeled neighbours were alerted by the shop’s alarm. ‘When I woke up, my phone was ringing,’ he says. ‘My staff were devastated — rightly so. The store was just absolutely in chaos. Literally half a million pounds worth of product was whipped off the shelves. It’s quite dramatic.’

Speaking to Susannah Constantine on her podcast My Wardrobe Malfunction, Davies adds: ‘I’m going to reach out to my network of followers and see if I can track down the frames.

‘They’re quite distinctive pieces: they say “Tom Davies for Emma Stone” on the inside and things like that. These are hot property. It’s not like you can just stick them on eBay.

‘So I’m going to try to track the thieves down and see if I can’t get these glasses back.

‘I ought to be upset. Part of me is, but it’s also fascinating watching the video of the guys in my store. I think I’m still in a state of shock.’
