Priceless teddy

-

I HAVE a beloved teddy bear (Letters), but he doesn’t really belong to me.

As a teacher many years ago, I had a pupil who had been brought up in a children’s home. She could be troublesome and I had to deal with her many misdemeanours. When my first child was born, this girl asked if she could come and see the baby.

When she arrived, she was clutching a well-loved, little blue teddy. ‘Miss, this is for the baby,’ she said. ‘I want her to have it. It’s the only thing I’ve ever owned.’

When she left school, we kept in contact for a while and she sent me a photo of her daughter in a christening robe. Sadly, we lost touch.

My dearest wish is to return that precious teddy that means so much to me, but was surely priceless to its rightful owner.

Name and address supplied. WHEN I was six months old, I was given a stuffed donkey. He’s now 67, has had new stuffing in one leg, his throat sewn up and he looks as if he’s had Botox!

P. PAGE, Andover, Hants. MY BROTHER and I were given twin teddies by our parents when we were babies, 81 years ago. MARY E. HOWELL,

Sandhurst, Berks.
