HARRY: I’M NOT UNTOUCHABLE!

34-goal Kane surprisingly says he is not a guaranteed England starter

HARRY KANE is adamant that he is not an England untouchable as he prepares for Friday’s explosive Euros clash against Scotland. The captain has scored 34 goals in 55 appearances for his country and is currently sixth on England’s all-time goalscorer list.

But Kane endured a frustrating afternoon during England’s win over Croatia on Sunday and was eventually substituted for Jude Bellingham.

Nevertheless, the Tottenham striker is almost certain to lead the team out at Wembley against the Scots on Friday night — although Kane insists he does not believe his place in the team is guaranteed.

When asked whether he is undroppable, Kane told ITV: ‘You will have to ask Gareth but I never look at it that way.

‘It is not my decision. I will train as hard as I can to play. The aim is to try and lead the boys out and win the games.

‘We have great competition for places. Dominic has come in and done great. For me, it is about training to my standard every day, trying to be the best and giving much as I can for the team.

‘I think that is what everyone is doing at the moment and I am sure there will be rotation among all the players in this tournament — everyone is waiting for the chance to try and make an impact.’

Kane has also warned Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall that he will be looking to embarrass him for a second time on Friday night.

The Scot was lobbed from 50 yards by Patrik Schick during Monday’s loss to the Czech Republic. And Kane has warned that he could try to repeat Schick’s audacious effort at Wembley, saying: ‘Every now and then I will look for that one. To see the keeper off the line is one thing but then to be able to put it in the back of the net is another.

‘That will probably be the goal of the tournament — that will be a hard one to beat.

‘The keepers today like to play as sweepers waiting for that ball in between so if there is a ricochet or an opening, I like to try and look for that one.

‘You never know, we might get another one this tournament.’

Meanwhile, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin insists he is ready to fill Kane’s boots if the unthinkable happens and the England skipper sits a game out.

‘Harry is the captain of the team and he is the man leading the line at the moment,’ said the 24-year- old striker. ‘At the start of the game, I wish him all the best and want him to score.

‘If he scores, it’s more than likely that we will win games. My role, at this moment in time, is to just be as ready as I can be for when I am called upon.

‘From being a young boy I dreamed of playing for my country and coming to a major tournament and as a young kid you dream of playing, perhaps not sitting on the bench.

‘But if that is my role, then so be it and I’ll do it to the best of my ability.’
