HOW AMBER RULES WILL SOON BE CHANGING

Fully vaccinated UK residents will soon be allowed to travel to amber list countries without the need to quarantine on return, it was announced last night. Updated measures will be introduced at some point ‘in the summer’, most likely in August but possibly as soon as July 19.

The changes are expected to include:

■ Rules will essentially be the same as current green list measures

■ Travellers must take a pre-departure test before returning to Britain

■ A further negative PCR test required on day two after return

■ Advice not to travel to amber countries will be dropped

■ Rules for children could also be introduced, such as daily tests on return
