No diplomatic immunity

-

HOW can minister Alok Sharma travel the world visiting red list and amber-list countries without selfisolating on his return (Mail)?

Is Mr Sharma immune to the virus, while the rest of us have to isolate in hotels at our own expense when returning from a red-list country?

It is not right there is one rule for him and another for everyone else. Colin GRIMMER, lowestoft, suffolk. The example set by Alok Sharma shows ordinary people are treated as fools who can’t think for themselves. Where are politicians’ consciences and respect for the rest of us?

k. NATHAN, london nW9. IT SEEMS unfair to criticise Alok Sharma, President for COP 26, the climate change conference, for travelling by jet on official foreign trips. he can’t do them all by bicycle or yacht. Scheduled flights will take off with or without him. At least he is not taking private jets. DUNCAN HARTLEY, solihull, W. Mids. AS SOMEONE who has postponed overseas holidays for the past 18 months, it is galling to see the Minister for Climate Change travelling all over the world by plane, not just racking up tons of pollution, but also avoiding quarantine on his return.

ROBERT BISHOP, Billingshurst, W. sussex. I WISH I could invoke the excuse of being a Crown servant in order to ignore Government guidelines.

JACAL CANNON, tadley, Hants. was born into a South Wales mining family and did not speak english until he started school. he regarded its proper use as sacrosanct.

There is no excuse for slovenly speech, particularly by a broadcaster that links programmes with nonsense spoken in a mixture of ‘yoof’ and ‘estuary’. regarding the ‘G’ and ‘T’ situation, I’ll have a large one.

JOHN BURTON, nottingham.
