FORMER England defender Anton Ferdinand has told Parliament’s home affairs committee inquiry into online abuse that he fears footballer­s could take their own lives.

If high-profile people, such as sports stars and actors, were not on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and the like, they would not suffer social media abuse.

If you are on these platforms, you are part of the problem.

GERRY BYRNE, Snettisham, Norfolk. THE use of social media platforms, often for self-promotion and glorificat­ion, provides the perfect opportunit­y for sick abusers who have little better to do with their lives than target celebritie­s.

There are millions of posts every day, so how can they all be vetted instantly? The simple solution is to just stop using social media.
