Root and branch reform

-

INSTEAD of relying on increasing National Insurance, investing extra billions, diversity courses and employing more senior managers on eye-watering salaries, I would suggest the answer is a root and branch review of every aspect of the NHS based on the principle of knowing your customers’ requirements.

I don’t just mean patients, but also the staff. The public needs to be confident that the NHS is there to look after them rather than looking after itself.

A review also needs to be made of the services it is expected to provide, split between essential and ‘nice to have’.

And there needs to be a complete review of the capability of senior managers to run a complex, multistructured business that will soon cost this country up to 40 per cent of GDP.
