Attorney from firm that can ‘make any problem go away’

- From Daniel Bates in New York

ANDREW has brought in a powerhouse Los Angeles legal firm led by a lawyer who can ‘make any problem go away’ to represent him.

With just four hours to go until last night’s hearing in New York, and sources saying the duke might not have a lawyer present, paperwork landed on the US court filing system saying he had appointed a legal heavy-hitter.

By hiring Andrew B. Brettler from law firm Lavely & Singer, which has represented a who’s who of A-listers over the years, the prince sent a message about how seriously he plans to fight the allegations against him.

Mr Brettler represents a number of public figures in the movie industry accused of sexual misconduct, including actor Armie Hammer and director Bryan Singer.

Andrew’s move also brings the formidable resources of Lavely & Singer on to his legal team. The company is so influential that Vanity Fair once dubbed its founder Marty Singer – who reportedly charges upwards of £700 an hour – the ‘Hollywood lawyer who can make any problem go away’.

Among those the company has been instructed by down the years are Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks, Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, Eddie Murphy and Simon Cowell.
