Teacher is jailed for abusing son of ‘Nasty Nigel’
A FORMER prep school deputy headmaster who abused boys including the son of TV music mogul Nigel Lythgoe was jailed for 16 years yesterday.
Peter Wells, 75, sexually assaulted children while working at Keble Prep in Winchmore Hill, north London. His sentence means he is likely to die in prison.
Simon Lythgoe, now a 46-year-old TV producer, was abused from the age of nine to 12 by Wells after the paedophile befriended his parents. He waived his anonymity and addressed Wells before sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court. ‘You have no idea the impact you have had on my life. After all of that I forgive you,’ he said.
David Smith, prosecuting, said Wells, pictured, also admitted grooming another boy. He had been jailed for 15 years in 2018 for similar offences. Judge John Dodd QC extended this by a year, bringing the total term to 16 years.
Mr Lythgoe’s father found fame as ‘Nasty Nigel’, a judge on the show Popstars.
