Follow Emma’s example

-

WHAT separates Emma Raducanu from other teenagers is that she has found a focus in her life.

Taking up a sport teaches you so much. You learn about physical fitness, diet, the art of winning and losing, and how to cope with the pressure of competition.

It also takes you away from computer screens and into the gym and the open air. Not everyone who takes up a sport will be a champion, but they will learn much about themselves and be all the better for it.

After Emma slipped and scraped her leg, it must have been difficult when her opponent complained to match officials about a medical timeout. But she kept her nerve to write her name into British sporting immortality. She is a credit to herself and her family. DAVID PATRICK MOORE,

Beckenham, Kent.
