AIR Baltic has a late summer sale with reduced fares if you book by September 21 for travel up to March 26, 2022. Flights to green-listed Lithuania and Latvia include Gatwick to Vilnius from £38 and Manchester to Riga from £42, both one-way (airbaltic.com).

ST LUCIA WINTER SUN

VIRGIN Atlantic will start flights from Heathrow to St Lucia, pictured right, on December 18, flying three times a week. The airline has a sale on until September 21 which has fares to the Caribbean island from £368 return in late January 2022. Double rooms at the Bay Gardens Resort in Rodney Bay cost from £119, B&B (virginatlantic.com, baygardens resorts.com, stlucia.org).

AIRPORT LOUNGES OPEN

THE Aspire Lounge at Bristol Airport has reopened, with admission from £23 per person including drinks and meals. The company now has lounges up and running at ten UK airports including Newcastle, Liverpool and Inverness. Book direct online to get free cover if your flight is delayed (executivelounges.com).

APP HAPPY

BRITISH Airways passengers can now use a free VeriFLY app to check whether they have met all pre-flight entry requirements for their destination, including Covid-19 tests. Uploading the relevant documents is a simple process and, on completion, a pass is issued confirming that you are good to go. The carrier is introducing fast-track VeriFLY check-in lanes. The app is also used by Aer Lingus, Iberia and American Airlines (ba.com, go.daon.com).

DUBAI DISCOUNT

EMIRATES is offering up to 20 per cent off return flights to amber-listed Dubai if you book by September 30. The carrier flies from five UK airports and the trip must fall between September 26, 2021 and March 31, 2022. Business class fares are included (emirates.com, visitdubai.com).

DISCOVER JORDAN

EASYJET is launching twice-weekly flights from Manchester to the Red Sea port of Aqaba on December 6. Fares are from £95.99 one-way. Jordan is on the amber list and the ancient sights of Petra and Wadi Rum can be reached on a day trip (easyjet.com, visitjordan.com).

SHETLAND ISLANDS LINK

FROM next summer it will be possible to fly from London City to Shetland. The new service from Loganair will launch on May 8, 2022, with a stop en route in Dundee. Tickets are now on sale with fares from £129.99 one-way (loganair.co.uk, shetland.org).
