SHE’S one of our most accomplish­ed West End stars, but there’s a good chance her name won’t mean anything to you.

Hannah Waddingham, who has spent the last 0 years in musical theatre, won the Emmy for outstandin­g supporting actress in a comedy series on Sunday for her role as Premier League club owner Rebecca Welton in Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.

The series follows small-time American football coach Ted Lasso who coaches a fictional Premier League team in England despite having no experience.

Miss Waddingham, 47, has previously had parts in Game of Thrones and Sex Education. One of her longest TV roles was as Tonya Dyke in Benidorm. On stage she has performed in The Beautiful Game, Spamalot and The Wizard of Oz and has received three Olivier Award nomination­s. Her first Emmy comes after her success at the Critics Choice Awards in March, where she was named best supporting actress in a comedy.

Her British co-star Brett Goldstein won the outstandin­g supporting actor in a comedy series Emmy for his portrayal of cantankero­us club captain Roy Kent.
