FOOTBALL

Norwich City v Liverpool, 7pm, Sky Main Event & Football

FOLLOWING five straight league defeats (including 0-3 to Liverpool on the opening weekend), Norwich could be forgiven for feeling less than optimistic about this Carabao Cup clash against the unbeaten Reds. But the Canaries did beat Bournemouth 6-0 in the previous round — away from the pressure of the Premier League, could they cause an upset at Carrow Road?

NEW-TO-FREEVIEW

The Rookie, 9pm, Pick

NATHAN FILLION plays an unlikely law enforcer in this U.S. drama. John Nolan (Fillion) is a divorced 40-year-old who becomes the oldest rookie in the LA police force and, even if that sounds like a cheesy premise, the show is actually a class act all round — with laughs, drama and impressive action.

DETECTIVE

DRAMA Annika, 9pm, Alibi

A CASE hits unusually close to home in the finale of this excellent drama, and forces Annika (Nicola Walker, pictured) to keep DS McAndrew at arm’s length. The high point of this episode encapsulates what’s so good about the show: Annika trapped in a car boot, calming herself by talking about Twelfth Night.

POP QUIZ

Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 9pm, Sky Max

GREG DAVIES hosts the revival of the BBC’s anarchic music quiz, for which he’s joined by team captains Daisy May Cooper and Buzzcocks old-timer Noel Fielding. It has every chance of success, too, between the money Sky has clearly put behind it and the level of cheeky banter in this first episode.
