It’s All In The Name!

-

When I was a shorthand typist for Sussex police, I was told by my supervisor I had to put my initials on my work. My full name is Patricia Irene Mabel Phillips, the initials of which I felt wouldn’t go down too well with the public, especially coming from the police. After much hilarity, it was agreed I should simply use the initials ‘PP’.

Patty Phillips, Middleton-on-Sea, W. Sussex. I once worked in an office where a pair of desks shared a telephone. My colleagues could pick up the phone and say: ‘Dr John Watson and Mr S. holmes.’

R. Knight, Derby.
