Comedian Jack gives romance a front row seat in his life
RUMOURS have been swirling over the past few weeks that stand-up comedian and Hollywood star Jack Whitehall’s relationship with his model girlfriend, Roxy Horner, has hit the rocks.
And now the couple tell me they’ve had to take drastic measures to keep their romance alive.
Horner, 30, who once courted Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, reveals she had to miss London Fashion Week for the first time in 15 years so she could spend time with Whitehall, a close friend of Princess Eugenie.
‘It was a bit difficult,’ the model admits of missing the highlight of the fashion world’s calendar. ‘I got FOMO [Fear Of Missing Out].’
Horner, who made her first appearance in Vogue aged 17, adds: ‘Jack had just got back from working away, so we needed some quality time, but I can’t believe we missed the whole of fashion week.’
Speaking at a cocktail party in London’s Fitzrovia, Whitehall, 32, tells me they took a romantic holiday in Corfu to reunite after he spent six weeks shooting his latest film in America, where his girlfriend was not allowed to join him due to Covid travel restrictions.
‘I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her,’ says Whitehall, who started his stand-up career at the Edinburgh fringe. ‘The closest thing for me would be missing Edinburgh Festival, which isn’t as glamorous, but it would be very difficult to miss.’ The actor, who starred in Disney blockbuster Jungle Cruise, adds that he needed some tender loving care from Horner, as he was badly sunburned after his latest film shoot in the U.S. desert for action movie Robots.
‘I got sunburned every day,’ he wails. ‘But I was also wearing a helmet for the role, and it was so hot I had people putting fans up there. I suffer for my art.’
When Jack was courting Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan, his theatrical agent father, Michael Whitehall, declared: ‘Jack, a girlfriend? No! Really?’
Hopefully Roxy’s sacrifice will mean that this relationship proves more successful than his last.
