Hurricane go-ahead for Arc bid

- MARCUS TOWNEND

ST LEGER winner Hurricane Lane has been given the green light to line up alongside Derbywinning stablemate Adayar in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe by trainer Charlie Appleby. The Irish Derby and Grand Prix de Paris winner came through a workout at Newmarket on Saturday ridden by James Doyle for the first time. Now Hurricane Lane will try to become the first horse to land the St Leger and Arc in the same season when he lines up in Paris. Appleby said: ‘If we have a good week we are very confident we can have two horses going into the Arc in great shape.’ Aidan O’Brien is likely to have three runners in the Longchamp showpiece with Ryan Moore on Snowfall, Japanese jockey Yutaka Take on Broome and Frankie Dettori riding Love.
