I was forced to sleep in my van near forecourt

A HOSPITAL manager was forced to sleep in his campervan near a garage forecourt after failing to fill up at 12 petrol stations.

Tom McCann, 30, and his miniature schnauzer, Arnie, were caught up in the panic buying as they drove from West Yorkshire to Wales.

He camped outside a Tesco store in Oldham after setting off on Sunday. He said: ‘I couldn’t find fuel anywhere. In the end I had to make the decision to stop overnight.

‘I came at about .30am and I’ve just had to wait for the delivery.’

Despite the chaos, he remained in good spirits. ‘It was a nice park where we stayed and we went for a walk, had some food in the van and got my head down,’ he said.
