Power plays

-

WALLOWING in their self-righteousness, eco-warriors display little regard to the impoverishment of the less well-off.

A grown-up Government would have the courage to exploit the country’s abundance of natural gas and support the development of small nuclear plants.

All available resources must be utilised in the overall energy mix and this must include coal in the short to medium term. British consumers should be enjoying some of the world’s lowest energy costs, rather than suffering some of the highest.

If energy costs were at an affordable level, industry would be much more competitive, generating more profits and taxes. The billions saved by becoming self-sufficient in energy would mean that paying down the national debt would start to ease the burden on today’s and tomorrow’s taxpayers.

Perhaps there are too many vested interests in the renewable energy subsidies that enrich so many? Without a bold and sustainable energy plan, we will be left in the cold and dark when the Prime Minister blows out the candles.
