Pop goes TV classic
TWO flagship programmes in primetime, Sunday-night slots are remakes that have been heavily transformed for the woke generation.
In All Creatures great And Small, we are given the impression the housekeeper ran the practice!
Now we have The Larkins, a reboot of the h.e. Bates classic about the gloriously un-PC Larkin family, with Pop rationed in his use of his catchphrase ‘Perfick!’
Tell the woke brigade to keep their hands off our truly loved classics. When they have sucked all the colour and richness out of life, it’s hard to come up with superb original TV.
They should come up with their own stories and characters. Don’t dumb down my memories.
STEVE FORSHAW, Kettering, Northants. The Darling Buds Of Diversity is a shadow of the original TV version.
CHRIS TAYLOR, Yateley, Hants. Why all the swearing? It spoiled the opening scenes of The Larkins.
H. KINGSTON, Northampton.
