My devastated town

-

MY TOWN is set to see the closure of yet another bank, with Barclays leaving hot on the heels of the Halifax.

Barclays was restyled a few years ago with machines and just one cashier. The queue for human service is always long, so where are all those people being directed to after Barclays closes?

Cuffley, which is five miles away and inaccessible by bus, or Barnet, which is ten miles away. If you can’t drive, it appears you are being forced into online banking.

I expect the premises will be sold off to the highest bidder and become another eatery, as if the High Street weren’t already drowning in these establishments.

My town is becoming devoid of the facilities necessary for its community. VERONICA HALL,

Potters Bar, Herts.
