England grab point as Hungary fans clash with police

JOhN STONeS rescued a point for england last night in a match marred by hungary supporters fighting with police at Wembley.

The authoritie­s were already on high alert after hungary fans racially abused england players during the reverse fixture in Budapest last month.

And it did not take long for the expected trouble to materialis­e in this World Cup qualifier which ended 1-1, as Stones cancelled out a penalty by Roland Sallai before half-time.

The FA said they would report the crowd disturbanc­es to FIFA, with one hungary supporter arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence.

Some in the away end aimed gestures towards england fans when Gareth Southgate’s players took the knee before kick-off. They also held up a banner bearing an anti-kneeling message.
