Wife killed with a cobra as she slept

A HUSBAND murdered his wealthy wife by throwing a cobra at her as she slept.

Sooraj Kumar, 28, had already tried to kill Uthra, 25, with a Russell’s viper, another highly venomous snake. Then, while she recovered from the viper bite at her parents’ home, he used the cobra to kill her.

Her family became suspicious when he later tried to take control of her property. Police found he had been in touch with snake handlers and watched snake videos.

Kumar, 28, from Kerala, southern India, was jailed for life. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty.
