Our edit of what hits stores TODAY

- ALEXANDRIA DALE

YVES SAINT LAURENT famously said: ‘Fashion fades, style is eternal.’ Invest in the right accessory and it will last you a lifetime. Now is the perfect time to revisit these heritage heroes as Gucci relaunches the classic ‘Jackie’ handbag, named after former First Lady Jackie Kennedy. So, whether you’re dusting off an old favourite or buying new, these timeless items are the must-have pieces to be seen with. 1 DON A CHIC SILK SCARF

our best-dressed celebrities and royals have always loved a silk scarf. It’s an easy way to add sophistication and flare to your outfit this season, and every other season.

Made famous by icons such as actress audrey hepburn, it’s still a standard among the fashion set in 2021.

2 GET COMFY IN LOAFER HEELS

DESIGNERS are obsessed with heeled loafers this season, but they’ve never fallen out of fashion. The Queen has worn custom Anello & Davide’s for decades, and Princess Anne (left) is also a fan. These shoes are a triple threat: versatile, flattering and comfortable. Wear yours with cropped trousers or a print midi skirt.

3 DAZZLE WITH GOLD HOOPS

Gold hoop earrings are especially ‘in’ this season, but in truth they were never out.

actress Catherine deneuve (right) was hardly seen without them in the 1960s and was still wearing them at Cannes this year. They are the linchpin of any jewellery collection; no matter the size, they will pull your look together for any occasion. Medium hoop, £65, astridandmiyu.com

4 STRAP ON AN ELEGANT WATCH

NO OTHER timepiece has the quiet elegance of a Cartier Tank, a favourite of Princess Diana (right). Over the years, Cartier has released different iterations, while other brands have produced similar, more affordable designs for the High Street so you don’t need to spend thousands to get the look.

Hexagonal, £39.99, johnlewis.com

5 PULL UP YOUR KNEE-HIGH BOOTS

Ankle boots may be in, thigh-highs may be out, but one boot style is always on trend — the leather knee-high. Take inspiration from the likes of Jackie kennedy’s daughter-in-law Carolyn (right). They look great under a classic shift dress, with this season’s must-have slip skirt, or worn over tight jeans or trousers. Stay away from modernised styles and treat yourself to a timeless shape in an understated colour.

6 INVEST IN MOCK CROC

FOR centuries, crocodile skins have been used to announce wealth and status. These days, nothing screams luxury like a fabulous mock-croc finish. A few designers such as Chanel have, thankfully, stopped using exotic skins, increasing the demand for high-quality imitations which are cruelty-free and finally affordable.

7 BAG YOURSELF A ‘JACKIE’

every fashion editor is carrying the ladylike shoulder bag this season, but there’s nothing new about this iconic shape.

Gucci’s ‘Jackie’ (named after Jackie kennedy, right) has been relaunched, inspiring the High Street to create its own chic interpretations of the design.
