How should we deal with road protesters?

-

IN SINGAPORE, littering is a criminal offence and if you are spotted dropping anything, from a toffee paper to a cigarette end or chewing gum, you can be fined a hefty sum on the spot. Not surprisingly, the streets are incredibly clean. Perhaps we should consider something a little harsher than a slap on the wrist for Insulate Britain protesters creating havoc on our motorways.

COLIN BOWER, Nottingham.

THESE road blockers just want to protest about something. If they think their cause is so important, why don’t they volunteer to insulate people’s homes?

ALAN KIRK, Plymouth, Devon.

CAN’T we persuade the police to deal with Insulate Britain in the same way they treated coalminers on picket lines?

M. STROUD, Wakefield, W. Yorks. ANYONE arrested for blocking a major road should have their benefits stopped immediately. Why should we pay to support them?

Mrs SHARON WATERS, London N14.

IF POLICE are unwilling to remove protesters blocking roads, motorists should exercise their right to make citizens’ arrests. The police would then be obliged to take the offenders into custody.

FREDERICK CROWLEY, Bishops Nympton, Devon.

RATHER than imprisoning Insulate Britain protesters at the taxpayers’ expense, unglue them from the motorway and stick them to the barriers. They could carry on with their protests and drivers could continue on their way.

J. ELFORD, Lower Kingswood, Surrey.
