PLAY MISTY FOR ME

LONG before Fatal Attraction, which it clearly influenced, Clint Eastwood’s Play Misty For Me — which premiered 50 years ago this month and is available on Amazon Prime Video — wove a taut, tense thriller out of a fan’s obsession with a radio disc jockey. Eastwood (above) was leading man, with Jessica Walter as his stalker, but more significantly the film marked his debut as a director. It was an auspicious start. And he’s still at it.
